SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — A Scotland Neck man has been arrested in connection with a break-in involving a delivery truck at a Dollar General earlier this month.

According to the Scotland Neck Police Department, officers received a report at approximately 6:35 a.m. on Sept. 8 of a break-in involving a delivery truck at the store.

Investigator Way responded and spoke with store personnel, who reported that an unknown suspect had entered the trailer of the delivery truck during the early morning hours and removed an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

During the investigation, police identified Daniel Bridges, 47, of Scotland Neck, as the suspect. Investigator Way obtained warrants charging Bridges with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and injury to personal property.

Police said Officer Garcia located Bridges in a vehicle on East 9th Street near Chestnut Street at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 14 while on patrol. A traffic stop was conducted, and Bridges was taken into custody without incident.

Bridges was transported to the Halifax County Magistrate’s Office, where police said he was denied bond pursuant to the Pretrial Integrity Act. He was subsequently remanded to the Halifax County Detention Center.

Bridges is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.

The Scotland Neck Police Department said the case remains under investigation.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
