
GASTON — A Seaboard man died Monday following a single-vehicle crash in Gaston, according to the Gaston Police Department.
Police were dispatched Monday, Aug. 17, to a single-vehicle crash in the area of 607 Garysburg Road.
Investigators said Angelo Levon Lassiter, 52, of Seaboard, was driving a 2008 Ford Escape east on Garysburg Road when the vehicle left the roadway to the right, struck a business sign and then collided with a tree.
Lassiter was pinned inside the vehicle and critically injured.
Gaston Fire & Rescue Station 12 responded and extricated Lassiter from the vehicle. Northampton County EMS also responded and transported him to ECU Health North Hospital.
Lassiter was later transported by helicopter toward ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for treatment of his injuries. According to police, Lassiter died from his injuries during the flight to Greenville.
Gaston Police Chief C.W. Bowser offered condolences to Lassiter’s family and thanked the emergency personnel who responded to the crash.
