A Roanoke Rapids man faces multiple drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at a Charlotte Street residence, according to the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force.

Members of the task force, along with officers from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department’s Patrol and Criminal Investigation divisions, executed a search warrant Friday, June 12, at a residence in the 1300 block of Charlotte Street.

Authorities said the residence had been under investigation for several months in connection with the alleged distribution of illegal narcotics.

As a result of the investigation, Willie Lynch, 61, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to authorities, Lynch was released on a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Halifax County District Court on July 23.

The Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force is a joint operation comprised of deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department. The unit focuses on investigating drug trafficking, gang activity, and related criminal offenses throughout Halifax County.

Anyone with information regarding suspected drug or gang activity may contact the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force at 252-991-9999.

Editor’s Note: Criminal charges are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. RV Reporter will follow this case through the court process and report significant developments as they become available.
